I am so tired of the hustle mentality, too. I have three part time jobs and five kids. Substack's been a nice place for me and my mind. Keep writing, Adam. Good seeing you here.
That's where I find myself right now. It may change down the road, but I just don't want to get caught in a hamster wheel when it comes to MY writing. I think this platform has given us a gift, one that makes it possible to create whatever we think of. I don't want to come up with a different prison for myself.
This is why I removed all my paywalls. I want community, not another hustle. If people enjoy and want to support my writing? Awesome! If not, it’s okay. I’ll still write because that’s what I love to do.
I think that's a great idea if you are looking to build a community. I still have older posts paywalled on here, but I don't know if I'll ever have something posted solely for paid subscribers. I'm not totally against making money on Substack either. But I don't want this to turn into something where I feel the need to crank out "content". We've grown to an unhealthy level of obsession when it comes to making money off of what we produce.
I'm glad that you have found your groove and know what you want out of your newsletter. Some people will never figure that out and never feel the joy that comes with creating a community around you.

You be sure to keep writing as well!
Yeah, I am writing. Just finished this one but I took a break from my draft to see what you just published. https://open.substack.com/pub/zinagomezliss/p/a-fulsome-ides?r=fjyz7&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&showWelcomeOnShare=true
